Yogi government to set up floating restaurant at Prayagraj ahead of Maha Kumbh

Prayagraj: The Uttar Pradesh government on Monday issued a tender for a first-of-its-kind ‘floating restaurant’ in the state. The fully air-conditioned restaurant with an additional open-air facility will come up on the Yamuna River in Prayagraj.
Additionally, the government has also floated a tender for setting up a water facility in Prayagraj where in two-years’ time Maha Kumbh Mela will be held.
The tenders have been floated as part of government’s plan to bolster the state’s economy by promoting tourism in religious places like Prayagraj, Varanasi, Mathura and Ayodhya.
“After enormous influx of tourist post-Kashi Vishwanath corridor, we saw similar opportunity at different regions in Uttar Pradesh. Therefore, tourist attractions like Kashi Vishwanath, will boost the local economy,” Principal Secretary (Tourist) Mukesh Meshram said.
According to tender document, the two projects – the floating restaurant and water sports facility – will have to be built by the developers in 120 days (four months). The e-tender is scheduled to be opened on February 15. As per existing policy, government will offer up to 30 per cent subsidy on capital investment.
The restaurant will be on a floating structure of 12 metre * 8 metre. The size of the restaurant, which will have glass walls and solar power supply, is proposed to be 12 metre * 6 metres.

Mr. Meshram further informed that it will be the concept of ‘floatal’ which not just a floating restaurant but also water sports activities. The developer will be design and implement the project as its own expense, and the government will provide subsidy to make the project viable,” added Mr. Meshram.
