Manipur Violence: Writer Held For Provocative Remarks On CJI Chandrachud And Manipur

A prominent writer and political analyst Badri Seshadri has been arrested by the Tamil Nadu police for his alleged ‘provocative’ remarks on Manipur violence and Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, on Saturday.

As per local police, Seshadri was arrested under Section 153, 153A and 505(1)(B).

What exactly Seshadri said?

In an YouTube interview, Seshadri said;

“The Supreme Court has said that if you (government) cannot do anything, we the court will. Let’s give a gun to Chandrachud and send him there. Let’s see if he can restore peace.”

Badri Seshadri on Manipur:

As per the writer, Manipur is a hilly and complex region, due to which violence bound to happen.

“It’s a hilly region and murders will happen there. We can’t stop the violence from happening,” he said.

FIR against Badri Seshadri:

As per India Today, the complainant, Kaviyarasu, advocate by profession registered an FIR against the writer after seeing his interview on YouTube.
