World Cup Squad Selection Meet On Sep 5 In Sri Lanka: Report

Ajit Agarkar-led Men’s Senior Selection Committee, Indian head coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Rohit Sharma are likely to sit together in Sri Lanka to discuss the much-awaited squad for the World Cup 2023.
The marquee event will take start from October 5 with defending champion England taking on New Zealand at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi stadium.
Fresh reports have hinted that senior national selection committee will meet on September 5, a day after India’s group match against Nepal to finalise the World Cup squad.
World Cup: Meeting to take place in Kandy
The participating teams are supposed to submit the squad list to the ICC on September 5 and reportedly the meeting would be held in Kandy with Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar joining the team on Thursday.
Having picked 17-member squad for the Asia Cup 2023, management is bound to pick 15-member squad for the World Cup. Tilak Varma is expected to miss out along with the one seam bowling option.
The selectors are likely to brainstorm over Shardul Thakur and Prasidh Krishan, with former having an edge due to batting abilities.

BCCI Secretary Jay Shah is also expected to reach Sri Lanka on Friday ahead of India’s match against Pakistan on Saturday.
