World Cup: Harbhajan Singh Picks Ashwin Over Kuldeep Yadav

Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh has picked experienced R Ashwin in the playing XI of ICC Men’s ODI World Cup squad over leggy Kuldeep Yadav.

Notably, Kuldeep Yadav has been a phenomenal performer for Men in Blue this year and was also adjudged Player of the Tournament in Asia Cup 2023.

Kuldeep’s 5/25 against Pakistan in Asia Cup 2023 helped the left-arm spinner to etch his name in the history books as the best performance by an Indian left-arm bowler against Pakistan in ODIs.

Kuldeep is also the leading wicket-taker this year for India in ODIs with 35 wickets under his belt. Despite such remarkable feats, Harbhajan Singh thinks Ashwin can be a crucial match-winner for Rohit Sharma during World Cup 2023.

“If you want a proven bowler, I would pick Ashwin alongside Ravindra Jadeja. Also, Ashwin can bat. That’s where you need to back your guy,” he told Cricinfo.

Team India will kick start its World Cup 2033 campaign on October 8 against Australia in Chennai.
