Wished Suryakumar Yadav’s debut in 2020: Hardik Pandya

Team India oscillated somewhere in mediocrity, Suryakumar Yadav was a standout batter in the class of ‘22.’ The 32-year-old was in his own zone, leaving every other batter far behind as he went to write his own legacy. In 31 T20Is, Yadav blasted 1164-runs including two tons at an average of 46.56.
Suryakumar Yadav’s brilliance with the bat was such that even Virat Kohli once wondered if a Mumbai boy was playing a ‘video game.’ Courtesy to his mature knocks in the past year, SKY has been elevated as a vice-captain of the T20I squad for three match home series against Sri Lanka.
On the eve of India vs Sri Lanka 1st T20I at Wankhede Stadium, Indian captain Hardik Pandya, also a teammate of Suryakumar Yadav at Mumbai Indians, admitted that he had wished for Surya to be part of India’s squad in 2020 itself.
“Said this in the past about him. He played international cricket late. I was always keen from 2020 for him to be part of the Indian team. Unfortunately, it didn’t happen,” Pandya said.
The rejuvenated all-rounder also wished ‘best’ for the world number one T20I batter and hoped that Suryakumar Yadav continues to flourish more in life and score more runs and make sure that team wins.
Team India will kick start the 2023 campaign with the 1st T20I match against Sri Lanka at iconic Wankhede Stadium on January 3, 2023 (Tuesday).
