Riding high on extraordinary success in T20 format of the game, Suryakumar Yadav got a reality check in a 3-match ODI series against Australia.
31-year-old scripted unlikely record to his name as he got dismissed thrice on golden ducks in all three matches of the bilateral.
Suryakumar Yadav became the sixth India batter to register three consecutive ducks in one-day internationals. Others in the list are Sachin Tendulkar (1994), Anil Kumble (1996), Zaheer Khan (2003-04), Ishant Sharma (2010-11), Jasprit Bumrah (2017-2019).
While Suryakumar Yadav’s stint in ODIs is going completely contrasting to what he has achieved in T20Is, ace cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle is optimistic of Suryakumar’s ‘rise from the floor.’
Taking to Twitter, Mr. Bhogle said that the game of cricket gives so much and ‘yet, it tests players by dragging them deep.’
“In the space of four months Suryakumar Yadav has seen it all. That is why it is said: how you rise from the floor is a measure of who you are. Looking forward to seeing him in the #TataIPL,” tweeted Mr. Harsha Bhogle.
Earlier, India’s head coach Rahul Dravid and skipper Rohit Sharma backed the batter citing the potential he posses as a batter.
Meanwhile, Rahul Dravid went on to say that Suryakumar is currently learning tricks and traits of playing in ODI format of the game.
