We Rejected, We Were Old: Virender Sehwag On Why Virat Kohli Carried Sachin Tendulkar After 2011 WC Win
Among the most iconic scenes in the history of Indian cricket will be Virat Kohli lifting master blaster Sachin Tendulkar after Team India won the 2011 ODI World Cup at iconic Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.
Both the batters are regarded as the two greats of the game, and Virat is the only Indian player from 2011 WC winning squad to feature in upcoming 2023 World Cup.
Ten years after, India is all set to host the marquee clash once again, and a former Indian cricketer has revealed that why it was Virat Kohli who got the opportunity to carry Sachin on his shoulder.
“Because we rejected, Sachin was so heavy, so we couldn’t lift him. We were old. We had shoulder injury and MS Dhoni had knee problems, somebody had other problems. We gave the burden to youngsters to lift him and give him a round. That’s why it was Viral Kohli,” Sehwag revealed during ICC event.
Team India will kick start their 2023 World Cup campaign on October 8 against Australia in Chennai.
