Mighty Mumbai Indians had to taste maiden defeat in the Women’s Premier League as all-rounder duo – Sophie Eccelstone and Deepti Sharma – ensured last over win for UP Warriorz.

It was a sheer domination by both the all-rounders as earlier Sophie Eccelstone and Deepti Sharma picked three and two wickets in the 1^st innings, and later remained unbeaten to guide their side home.

In response to Mumbai’s 121, UP needed five runs in the last over with right-arm fast pacer Issy Wong had the onus to defend the total. Sophie Eccelstone, who was on strike missed first two deliveries bringing the game dynamics to 5 off 4.

With that win, UP Warriorz have now three wins in six games and placed at third position in the points table. Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians has suffered their maiden defeat in the season but still maintained the top-spot in the chart.
