WATCH: Anjum Chopra consoles emotional Harmanpreet Kaur after semi-final defeat by Australia in T20 WC

Former Indian captain Anjum Chopra shared a heartfelt moment with Indian women skipper Harmanpreet Kaur as the latter could not guide her side past Australia in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2023.
Kaur and Co. faltered once again in front of fierce defending champion on Thursday (February 24) at Newlands in Cape Town.
While chasing 172, India was well in the game until skipper Harmanpreet Kaur got dismissed in an unprecedented fashion, when she was batting on 52. The Indian skipper attended the post-match presentation wearing sun-glasses and admitted that she does not want anyone to see her crying.
However, Kaur broke down when she met Chopra and the duo hugged each other. In a video shared by ICC, Chopra could be seen consoling the Indian skipper as the latter looked uncontrollable. Check out the video.
KAUR NEVER BACKS DOWN: CHOPRA
Kaur was reportedly high in fever before the match and her appearance in a high-stake game was in serious doubt but the Punjab-born player managed to not only make it to the playing XI, but also produced a commendable knock in a crunch situation – when India was 28/3.
“Today she might not have even played. But because it was the semi-final of a World Cup and because Harmanpreet Kaur is a player who never backs down, but charges ahead, she did just that. She was able to bring herself to play this match and continued while fielding by running all over the ground, The skipper said I’ll go everywhere and then while she rekindled India’s hopes,” Chopra said.
INTENTION WAS TO GIVE EMPATHY: CHOPRA
“My intention was to give the captain some empathy because that’s all I can offer from the outside. It was an emotional moment for both of us. It was a player-to-player moment with her. We were just trying to lessen our sorrows by sharing them,” Chopra concluded.
