There is an urgent need for a river-centric approach in planning riverine cities. This should be part of the city’s master plan. Necessary action should be taken with the technical support of IIT Kanpur,” the Chief Minister said.

Mr. Adityanath further stressed upon the installation of sewage treatment plants and instructed the work on the matter should be expedited to ensure that Ganga is clean before Maha Kumbh.

He further ordered officials to put more effort into urban solid waste management to ensure the uninterrupted and clean flow of all rivers, including the Ganga.

Efforts should be made to develop Ganga nursery with the help of women of self-help groups, ex-servicemen etc. We should create an entire value chain from nursery to processing of fruits. These ‘Ganga products’ can become a permanents source of income for the people on the banks of the river,” Chief Minister added.
