Ziya, born as a man and changed into a woman, while Zahad, born a woman and transformed into a man, have been living together for the last three years.

According to reports, Zahad conceived the baby amid his transition process from a woman into a man, which was stalled for the baby. The decision to conceive a baby was taken when Zahad’s breasts were already removed but doctor advised for it as uterus was already there, it would be possible.

“Though I was not a woman by birth or by my body, I had the feminine dream inside me to hear a baby calling me ‘mother.’ It has bee three years since we are together. Like my dream of becoming a mother, Zahad has a dream of becoming a father and today a life of eight months is moving in his belly and his full consent,” Ziya wrote in her Instagram post and thanked everyone for constant support.

However, report published in Manorama revealed that the couple earlier planned to adopt a baby and enquired about the process. But the legal proceedings were challenging for them as they are transgender couple.

As Zahad was still a female biologically, and could conceive a baby naturally, though Zahad was reluctant of that idea but Ziya’s (born male) desire to become a mother persuaded Zahad’s mind.

A team of doctors from the Kozhikode Medical College confirmed that there was no physical challenge in conceiving though both of them were in the process of gender transformation.
