There are lives at stake. Dont do politics: S Jaishankar schools Congress leader over Sudan tweet
External Affair Minister S Jaishankar slammed the Congress leader Siddaramaiah for ‘politicising’ the situation of Indians in violence-hit Sudan.
Notably, senior Congress leader Siddharamaiah highlighted the issue on social media and alleged that while 11 Indians are left stranded without food since the last few days and the government of India is yet to initiate action to bring them back.
“The BJP government should immediately open diplomatic discussions and reach out to international agencies to endure the well-being of Hakki Pikkis,” Siddharamaiah said.
In response, BJP leader schooled the Congress veteran by suggesting him not to politicise the matter.
“Simply appalled at your tweet! There are lives at stake. Don’t do politics,” Jaishankar tweeted.
Minister further revealed that since the fighting started on April 14th, the Embassy of India in Khartoum has been continuously in touch with most Indian Nationals and PIOs in Sudan.
Mr. Jaishankar concluded by stating that ‘it is grossly irresponsible of you to politicize the situation.’ “No electoral goal justifies endangering Indians abroad,” Jaishankar concluded.
