Tata Motors aims to double its EV sale by next year: Report

Tata Motors is reportedly aiming to produce 1 lakh units of electric vehicles in the next 12 to 18 months to improve their EV penetration of over 15 per cent. The list includes the recently introduced Tiago EV as well as the Punch EV slated for 2023.
According to a recent report from Autocar India, Tata Motors is aiming to increase its monthly sales by double. Notably, the company crossed the milestone of producing 50,000 EVs from its Pune facility and reportedly its revenue reached over a billion dollars from its EV sales.
Reports have hinted that Tata Motors dispatches around 4000-5000 units of EVs every month and by the end of the next fiscal year it aims to reach the figures of 8000-10000 units.
With the inclusion of the Tiago EV, Tata Motors expects to attain an annualised pace of 1 Lakh units by FY 2024 after previously reaching a rate of 55,000 to 60,000 units per year with the Nexon.
Speaking to Autocar India, Shailesh Chandra, MD of Tata Motors Passenger Electric Mobility said that the company has the potential to easily double its production with the Tiago and the new planned products.
“We are on an aggressive path of product introduction. With the new product introduction plan, the volumes will surely grow,” he said.

While the Tiago EV is already dominating the market and touted to bring more fortunes for the company, the soon to launch Punch EV will provide a much-needed stride to Tata Motors in the EV segment.
