Taliban bans women and girls from attending Eid celebrations in two provinces

Afghanistan: Taliban has banned women from attending Eid celebrations in two provinces of Afghanistan. The latest announcement came as the group continues to impose harsh restriction on women under rule.
As per notification issued by Taliban, women have been prohibited ‘to go out in groups during the days of Eid-ul-Fitr’ on Friday in Takhar and Baghlan province.
The circular also underlined that it is compulsory to mention Hibatullah Akhundzada, the Taliban’s reclusive supreme leader in Eid prayers.
Earlier this month, Taiban prohibited the entry of families and women into restaurants with gardens or green spaces in the northwestern province of Herat. In August 2021, the Taliban seized power after US-led forces from Afghanistan withdrew itself from the war-torn South Asian country.
