T20 World Cup: KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, and Suryakumar Yadav shine as India confirms semi-final berth

A convincing performance from Indian batters, complemented by incredible fielding and bowling in the second innings against Bangladesh, confirmed India’s spot in the semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup.

After Shakib Al Hasan invited India to bat first, KL Rahul (50 off 32) and Virat Kohli (64 off 44) scored instrumental fifties capped with a blistering knock from Suryakumar Yadav (30 off 16), guided India to 184-6 in 1st innings.

Bangladesh got the terrific start they needed as opener Litton Das scored 60 in just 27 deliveries with three sixes and seven boundaries. However, rain revised the target (151 in 16 over) and the way Bangladesh was heading ahead in the run chase.

A brilliant run-out by KL Rahul, Arshdeep Singh’s smart bowling and a few brilliant catches in the field meant India sealed the game with utmost ease. Former Indian skipper Virat Kohli, the highest run-scorer in the current edition of the T20 World Cup 2022 and scripting new records with every run he scores, was adjudged Player of the Match award for his superb 64 in just 44 deliveries. With that victory, India climbed the points table and secured the top spot with five points and a +2.233 net run rate.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh suffered its second defeat in the edition and is currently in the third spot in the points table with four points and a +2.233 net run rate. South Africa, the only unbeaten team in the competition, has two more matches in the Super-12 stage and needs to win just one game to qualify for the semi-finals.
