A day after India’s T20 World Cup campaign ended on a heart-breaking note after suffering a 4-run defeat by defending champions Australia in a semi-final clash in Cape Town, Harmanpreet Kaur expressed her gratitude towards Indian cricket fans for their constant support.

Taking to Twitter on Friday (February 24), Indian skipper admitted that ‘it’s sad for all the fans across the globe to see your side loose’ but promised that Women in Blue will make a strong comeback.

“This is for all our fans across the globe who have supported us throughout this World Cup. I thank you for believing in our journey. I know as a cricket fan it’s sad to see your team lose. All I can say is that we will come back strongly and put a great show out there,” she wrote.

Notably, Kaur found herself at the receiving end after the cricket fraternity criticised her for the way she got run-out during India’s run chase. Even a former England cricketer called her run-out ‘school girl error’ during live commentary of the match.

However, the Indian skipper reacted to that statement by stating that players are mature enough and it was not a ‘school girl error.’ While chasing 172, Team India was in the game Jemimah Rodrigues (43) and Harmanpreet Kaur (52) batted brilliantly but India kept losing wickets in regular intervals and hence, fell short of 5-runs.

Australia became the first team to enter in the finals of the T20 World Cup, while a day later South Africa edged past England to make a grand entry in its first ever World Cup final.
