Shikhar Dhawan Likely To Lead Second String Squad in Asian Games 2023: Report
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has decided to send second string team for Team India’s highly-anticipated maiden appearance at Asian Games 2023 in China’s Hangzhou in September-October.
As the men’s competition will coincide with 2023 ODI World Cup in India and all the in-form prominent players will be part of the World Cup squad, BCCI is likely to name Shikhar Dhawan as the skipper for the squad taking part in the quadrennial extravaganza.
As per fresh reports, the announcement is likely to come on July 7 after BCCI’s Apex Council Meeting. Meanwhile, BCCI is confident of sending full-strength women’s squad in women’s competition.
Speaking of Shikhar Dhawan, the left-handed batter has been left out of the main squad following inconsistent performance last year. Dhawan has been replaced by Shubman Gill as the top-order batter in the main squad and will be taking part in the upcoming World Cup 2023.
