Saudi Arabia in talks with IPL owners for world’s richest T20 League

The proliferation of T20 leagues in the world is in full swing. Ever since IPL started gaining popularity in the world and brought much fame and revenue to the Board of Cricket Control of India, others countries too followed similar footsteps.
Last year, saw the introduction of the T20 leagues in South Africa and UAE, and as per fresh reports Saudi Arabia is in talks to introduce the richest T20 league in the world.
While IPL remains unmatched in terms of revenue, popularity and presence of social media, Saudi Arabia is reportedly in talks with IPL owners to set up the ‘world’s richest T20 League’ in the country.
The Age has confirmed that talks between Saudi Arabia government and IPL owners have been going on but yet nothing substantial has taken place.
Reportedly, number of representatives of the Saudi government and business have been spotted around India’s cricketing activities, trying to get IPL owners and the BCCI itself into their planned T20 league.

There are possibilities of conducting the annual Asia Cup, the opening match or even a round of the IPL in Saudi Arabia are also reportedly in the talks.
