Rohit Will Score Lot Of Runs In World Cup: Virendra Sehwag

The most explosive batter of his time, Virendra Sehwag feels Indian skipper Rohit Sharma will end up as a leading run-scorer in the upcoming World Cup 2023.

While speaking to the ICC, Sehwag explained that due to batting friendly conditions in India, prolific opener will get plenty of opportunities to excel in the marquee clash.

“India has got good wickets, so I think openers will get good opportunities. If I want to pick one, I think Rohit Sharma. There are a couple of names, but I am Indian and I should pick an Indian, so Rohit Sharma,” Sehwag said.

The retired Indian cricketer also said that when the World Cup comes, Rohit’s energy level goes up.

“I am sure he will do well. And this time he’s the captain also. I am sure that he will make a difference and will score lots of run,” Sehwag concluded.

Notably, Rohit was leading run-getter in the 2019 ODI World Cup held in England. He amassed 648 runs in nine matches at an average of 81, including five hundreds.

36-year-old has featured in 244 ODIs, amassing 9837 runs at an average of 48.69 with 30 hundreds and 48 fifties.

The World Cup will kick start from October 5 with England vs New Zealand taking on each other at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi stadium.
