Rishabh Pant’s car-accident: Three probables who can lead Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023?

Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant survived horrific car-accident on Friday as his car (BMW) rammed into divider while he was driving to Roorkee from Delhi. While his car gutted into fire, Pant had a narrow escape as he moved out of the burning car by breaking window glasses.

Pant received several injuries in his leg, and back of the body and currently being treated in Max hospital in Deharun, but reports have suggested that he might be airlifted in Delhi if required. Meanwhile, reports have also claimed that Pant is unlikely to participate in upcoming four-Test match series against Australia as his injuries are expected to take some time to recover.

However, doctors have claimed that Pant might take four to six months to recover from injury. Though, IPL 2023 is not very close in the calendar and the Delhi skipper has lot of time to recover, discussions over the possibility of his replacement is already underway. In this article we will take a look at the three probable candidates who can be Delhi Capitals skipper in IPL 2023 season.

David Warner:

The Australian cricketer is one of the most explosive batters in the league and with one IPL title already to his name, Warner is the most suitable candidate for leading Delhi Capitals.

Notably, Warner-led Sunrisers Hyderabad to the title triumph back in IPL 2016. Considering Warner’s current form, possibilities are really high that we can see an Aussie leading the side.

Mitchell Marsh:

Marsh is another experienced cricket in the Delhi squad. He has loads of experience in playing at such competitive level. Marsh has also led Australia U-19 side to the World Cup title victory in 2010.

Prithvi Shaw:

The 23-year-old is one of the most prolific batters in the Indian cricket set-up. Although, he has failed to capitalise his opportunities at the international set-up, he has proved his mettle in the domestic cricket and IPL. He played some instrumental knocks in IPL 2022, and had an impressive domestic season which makes among the top prospects to replace Pant as a captain in IPL 2023.
