Rishabh Pant In Good Shape, Will Lead Delhi Capitals In IPL 2024: Ganguly

KOLKATA: Former India captain and Delhi Capitals Director of Cricket, Sourav Ganguly, announced on Thursday, November 9, that Rishabh Pant is in excellent shape and will be a part of the team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.
Rishabh Pant has joined the Delhi Capitals’ training camp in Kolkata, but during his early preparations for the next season, he will not train with the rest of his teammates.
Among the IPL teams, Delhi Capitals are among the first to commence their training camps. Several Delhi Capitals players who are available for the camp have already started their training sessions at the Jadavpur University second Campus Cricket Association of Bengal ground in Saltlake, Kolkata.
According to Ganguly, Rishabh Pant arrived in Kolkata on Thursday and will stay in the city until November 11.
Rishabh Pant has been leading the Delhi Capitals since the beginning of the 2021 IPL season. However, he had to sit out of IPL 2023 due to multiple injuries he sustained in a life-threatening road accident in December last year.
Sourav Ganguly mentioned, “Rishabh Pant is in good shape. He will play from the next season. He will not practice now. He is here until November 11. We had a discussion about the team with Pant as he is the captain of the team, considering the upcoming auctions,” during an interview with India Today in Kolkata.
During the training camp in Kolkata, Rishabh Pant appeared comfortable as he took a walk around the ground. Notably, he was not wearing any knee straps, indicating his progress toward full fitness.

Pant is expected to make a return to competitive action early next year, and there is speculation about his international return during a home Test series against England in early 2024.
Following the road accident, Pant had to remain sidelined from cricketing action for an extended period. His injuries caused him to miss the IPL, the World Test Championship Final, the Asia Cup, the ODI World Cup at home, and other bilateral series as he underwent surgery to treat his multiple injuries.
