Minutes after Rahul Gandhi reached Imphal for his two-day visit to violence-hit Manipur, Congress leader was stopped by local police near Bishnupur – near 20 kms from the capital.
Notably, Rahul Gandhi was supposed to visit relief camps and meet the family members affected by the weeks-long violence unfolding in the state, but he was reportedly stopped by the local police.
Meanwhile, senior Congress leader and General Secretary KC Venugopal told ANI that Gandhi’s convoy has been stopped by police near Bishnupur.
“Police say that they are not in position to allow us. People are standing on both sides of the road to wave to Rahul Gandhi. We are not able to understand why have they stopped us…I do not know why the Police are not allowing us,” Congress leader said.
