Rahul Gandhi Defamation Case: Gujarat HC Upholds Session Court’s Order – Top Points

In a major setback to Congress biggie Rahul Gandhi, the Gujarat High Court on Friday upheld the Session court’s order to stay the conviction of his plea in a defamation case over hi 2019 Modi surname remark.

Announcing his verdict, the court said ‘the impugned order is just proper and legal.’

Rahul Gandhi is accused of defaming the ‘Modi community’ while delivering a speech ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. He had then said, “how come all theives have Modi as the common surname?”

With that order, Rahul Gandhi remains disqualified Member of Parliament.
