Purest Format: Yashasvi Jaiswal Ahead Of Test Debut Match in Ind vs WI Series – WATCH

Young prodigy Yashasvi Jaiswal has confessed that Test cricket is the purest form for him and he always wanted to play the red-ball cricket of the game for the Indian team.

After producing clinical performance in the Indian Premier League 2023, Yashasvi Jaiswal got his maiden call for Team India and will make a Test debut in the 1st Test against West Indies.

Apart from the making his first appearance, Yashasi Jaiswal has also convinced the team management to let him open alongside prolific Rohit Sharma.

Ahead of first international game, Yashasvi Jaiswal said that he is extremely happy to be part of the team.

I was very happy. For me, Test is the purest form of cricket. When I was growing up, I always wanted to play Tests for India, When I heard that I was going to be part of the Indian team, it was a pleasure. I always wanted to be in a Test team, as well as the T20I side,” he said while speaking to Ruturaj Gaikwad for BCCI’s podcast.

Earlier, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma bestowed confidence on the Indian batter and said that he hopes Jasiwal will make most of the opportunity to cement his position as an opener.

The 21-year-old has played 15 first-class games, and boasts on average of over 80, including nine centuries and a highest score of 265.
