Police was attacked in cowardly manner, we respected Guru Granth Sahib Ji: Punjab DGP on Ajnala clash

Amritsar: A day after supporters of Khalistan sympathizer Amritpal Singh stormed a police station, Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav said on Friday that demonstrators had used holy Guru Granth Sahib as a shield and attacked a police personnel in a coward manner.
According to the officer the protestors assured that they will hold a peaceful protest but used sharp weapons to attack police.
“The demonstration was permitted when under cover of Palki Sahib of Guru Granth Sahib ji, but the demonstrators attacked police in a cowardly manner,” DGP said.
The officer stated that police behaved with ‘utmost sincerity’ and respected Guru Granth Sahib Ji.
On Thursday, Amritpal Singh’s supporters, some of them carrying swords and weapons, barged into police station in Anjala on the outskirts of Amritsar city, extracting an assurance from the police that Lovpreet Singh, accused in Kidnapping case, is released.
