Bengaluru: In preparation for their upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 match against Australia, Pakistan’s team has faced a significant setback due to multiple players being diagnosed with a viral chest infection during their stay in Bengaluru.
As reported by Pak-based Samaa Tv, several key players, including Shaheen Afridi, Abdullah Shafique, Zaman Khan, and Usama Mir, have been affected, experiencing high fever and illness.
Shaheen Afridi, who was struck by a viral bacterial infection, sought immediate medical attention, receiving antibiotic drips to aid in his recovery. Abdullah Shafique is also under medical supervision due to severe high fever.
Zaman Khan recently joined the list of affected players, and Usama Mir, who has been dealing with the condition for five days, has been placed in quarantine as a precautionary measure, despite his medical tests showing negative results.
Pakistan’s media manager has mentioned that the cricketers are showing signs of improvement and are on the path to recovery.
After their loss to India on October 14, Pakistan, led by Babar Azam, currently holds the fourth spot on the points table, with two wins from three matches and four points in total.
The team is eager to secure a victory against Australia in their next match and regain their winning momentum.
