NZ vs SL, 2nd Test, LIVE: Kane Williamson and Henry Nicholas smash daddy tons to power New Zealand at 580 in 1st innings
After mouth-watering clash in the 1st Test, New Zealand and Sri Lanka regrouped for the second and final Test of the bilateral at Basin Reserve, in Wellington. While batting first, New Zealand openers – Tom Latham (21 off 73) and Devon Conway (78 off 108) provided solid start to the host.
However, Sri Lanka bowlers did try to bounce back by reducing New Zealand at 118-2 and dismissed both the openers, but heroic daddy tons from Kane Williamson (215) and Henry Nicholls (200) to put New Zealand in a commanding position. New Zealand declared their innings at 580-4.
For Sri Lanka, right-arm fast medium pacer Kasun Rajitha bagged two wickets while Dhananjaya de Silva and Prabath Jayasuriya picked one wicket each.
