Former Indian cricketer Harbhajan Singh feels Indian selectors were right to pick Suryakumar ahead of Sanju Samson in the ODI World Cup squad.
The celebrated Indian cricketer also said that Suryakumar can make an impact in the game in a way that Virat and Rohit even cannot do.
“I feel Suryakumar Yadav is a complete, complete player. I don’t think the selectors have been harsh on Sanju Samson. I do feel Sanju is a very good player, a quality player. But you can only select fifteen players. But picking Suryakumar over Sanju is the right call,” Singh said.
Singh further said that Sanju plays the game of cricket in which there is always fear of getting out but Suryakumar puts pressure on the opponent.
Neither Virat nor Rohit: Harbhajan Singh
“What he can do at that position, neither Virat Kohli can do, nor Sanju or Rohit Sharma. Because what he does it’s a difficult job, batting at No. 5-6. What MS Dhoni has done, what Yuvraj Singh has done,” Singh added.
Team India will kick start it’s World Cup 2023 campaign on October 8 against Australia at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
