NCP Leader Ajit Pawar Splits NCP To Join BJP-Led Maha Govt; Opposition Reacts
Senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar shocked the political fraternity in the county as joined hands with BJP and became an important ally of the Eknath Shinde-led government in Maharashtra. Ajit Pawar’s move left Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance comprising – NCP, Congress and Uddhav Thackeray-leg of Shiv Sena – embarrassed.
As Ajit Pawar claimed that he has support of 40 out of 53 NCP MLAs, opposition slam the leader for his unprecedented move. Let’s check how opposition reacts to the development.
Congress:
Senior Congress leader and general secretary Jairam Ramesh alleged that BJP’s washing machine has resumed its operation in the state.
“A number of new entrants into the BJP-led alliance in Maharashtra today had been facing serious corruption charges with ED, CBI and Income Tax authorities after them, now they have all got the clean chit,” he tweeted.
Shiv Sena:
Shiv Sena leader Priyanka Chaturvedi termed BJP as a ‘political opportunists wanting power at any cost.’ “With the latest development in Maharashtra, those MLA who were corrupt and were jailed are now being sworn in as ministers,” she tweeted.
Meanwhile, senior Shiv Sena leader (Uddhav Thackeray) said that this is a beginning of the end of Eknath Shinde’s government.
Samajwadi Party:
SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav claimed that Maharashtra has become a new laboratory for the BJP. “By hook or crook the BJP wants to be in government,” said Akhilesh Yadav.
NCP:
NCP stalwart Sharad Pawar took a sly dig at the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for roping in NCP leaders.
“PM Modi mentioned that there is huge corruption in Maharashtra’s cooperative bank. I am happy that today some members of the NCP is involved in corruption. Thanks to PM Modi for freeing everyone from the allegations made by him,” NCP leader said.
