Nadav Lapid vs The Kashmir Files row: I&B minister Anurag Thakur faces heat

Israeli filmmaker and jury chief at the International Film Festival of India, Nadav Lapid, caused a massive stir in India when he called, The Kashmir Files a ‘vulgar and propaganda movie, stating that everyone in the jury was disturbed to see the movie at IFFI 2022.
Lapid found himself in the middle of water minutes after his speech went viral on social media as a section of society lashed out at the Israeli filmmaker.
“All of us were disturbed and shocked by the movie ‘The Kashmir Files? It felt to us like a propaganda and vulgar movie that was inappropriate for an artistic and competitive section of such a prestigious film festival,” Lapid said.
The Kashmir Files, based on the Kashmiri Hindu genocide, was released in theatres on March 11, was part of the Indian Panorama Section at IFFI, and was screened on November 22.
While the likes of Anupam Kher, writer and director (The Kashmir Files) Vivek Agnihotri, Mr. Naor Gilson, Israeli Ambassador of India, slammed Israeli filmmaker, a section of the society took a dig at Information and Broadcasting Minister, Anurag Thakur for inviting Nadav Lapid to the event, without any background check.
Several Twitter users pointed out that the Indian minister must have done a proper background check before sending an invitation to Jewish filmmaker Navad Lapid.
