MCC Suspends Three Members After Lord’s Long Room Drama Involving Australian Players; Extends Apology

The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) has suspended three members over an altercation with the Australian batters – Usman Khawaja and David Warner in Lord’s Long Room – following Jonny Bairstow’ controversial stumping on the 5th Day of the 2nd Ashes Test.

We have unreservedly apologised to the Australian team and will deal with any Member who has not maintained the standard we expect though our disciplinary processes,” read MCC’s official statement.

Notably, footage of the Lord’s Long Room showed MCC members – miffed with Bairstow’s dismissal hurled abuses on Usman Khwaja followed by David Warner. Both the Australian cricketers indulged into heated exchange of words with the Australian fan till the intervention.  

Post-Bairstow dismissal, Australian team was booed and jeered with chants of ‘same old Aussies, always cheating’ echoes Lord’s. Speaking on the match, Australia clinched the second successive Ashes Test after winning the opener at Edgbaston.
