Manipur News: Seven Women Raped, Claims Local Group; CM N Biren Singh Denies

Days after viral video showcasing two women being subjected to sexual assault and paraded naked by a mob of men, locals groups have claimed that close to seven Kuki-Zomi women have been raped since the outbreak of the violence in Manipur on May 3.

As reported by the India Today, the Vaipei People’s Council, Young Vaipei Association, Zomi Students Federation and Kuki Students Federation on July 23 claimed that seven Kuki women have been raoed since the outbreak of the violence.

As per fresh claims, out of 27 women victims, seven were raped, eight were bludgeoned to death, two were burnt to death and five were shot dead and three were lynched. Meanwhile, the case of death of the remaining victims remains unknown.

Manipur CM denies [Manipur News]

However, Manipur CM N Biren Singh has refuted claims and said that only one incident of rape has been reported among 6,068 FIRs registered across state with the complaints of murder, arson and rioting.

Meanwhile, large number of Meiteis are now leaving Mizoram after Ex-militant organisation asked Meiteis to leave the state for their home state for their ‘own safety.’
