Manipur CM Likley To Tender Resignation Today Amid Fresh Violence: Report
Day after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi arrived in Imphal to take notice of the situation in violence-hit Manipur, chief minister N Biren Singh is likely to tender his resignation on Friday as the law-and-order situation continues to worsen in the state amid fresh ethnic clashes.
As reported by The Sangai Express, Singh is likely to hand over his resignation to the Manipur governor Anusiya Uikey on Friday at 1 P.M.
Reportedly, the Chief Minister was asked to either tender his resignation or Centre would step in and take things over. Notably, Rahul Gandhi is in the state on two-day visit amid criticism from the BJP.
The ongoing ethnic clashes between the Meitei and Kuki communities in Manipur have caused more than 100 deaths till now. The violence notably erupted on May 3 after ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ took place in the hill districts.
