Entertainment: Nawazuddin Siddiqui has recently revealed how Anurag Kashyap scolded him on the first day of shoot for Gangs of Wasseypur as the lead actor was trying to copy Al Pacino.
Notably, Anurag Kashyap-directed Gangs of Wasseypur redefined Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s career and made him a household name in the country.
Nawazuddin has always credited Anurag for giving him an opportunity as a lead in a crime-thriller – based in Wasseypur (then in Bihar) – studded with actors like Manoj Bajpayee, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Rajkumar Rao and others.
In his recent interaction with Mashable India, Nawazuddin revealed that he started sleeping like Rober De Niro or Al Pacino.
“I was in the phase for three to four months. My teacher would advise me not to do it. On the first day of the shooting of the Gangs Of Wasseypur, main pura Al Pacino banke gaya tha (I went like Al Pacino). I would even speak like him,” Nawaz revealed.
He further shared that Anurag scolded him a lot at night and told him to just act normal. “You’re behaving too much like Al Pacino. I could not sleep all night. When I went there in the morning the next day, I went purely as Nawaz,” he added.
