Mahesh Manjrekar Reveals He Left Savarkar's Bopic Due To Randeep Hooda's Interference - Details Inside

Entertainment: Renowned actor-turned director Mahesh Manjrekar has alleged that Randeep Hood’s too much interference with the script of Swantantrya Veer Savarkar, led to his exclusion from the project.

In an interview with Bollywood Hunagama, the filmmaker said that;

We had a couple of meetings. He read several books related to the freedom struggle, World Wars etc. He had a few issues and that was okay. Then even during the second draft of the script, he had some objections. I told him, “If this what’s going to happen, there will be problem in the film,” Mahesh Manjrekar said.”

Manjrekar also disclosed how Randeep wanted to include elements of Hitler, the King of England, the Prime Minister of England in the film which did not sit well with the director.

He started telling me that I can shoot in a particular way and then put the dissolve transition. I was like ‘Now he’s telling me how to make films’ I made it clear that I am going to direct my way. I also realised that he’s not letting me work. I told the producers that I can’t work the project if we both are part of it,” he concluded.

About Swantantrya Veer Savarkar:

Directed and co-written by Randeep Hooda with Utkarsh Naithani, the film is facing legal issues as the actor and producer Sandeep Singh have both claimed ownership over the copyrights for the story.
