Lewis Hamilton says no talk with Ferrari, ‘new deal close’

Amid speculations regarding of Lewis Hamilton in talks with Ferrari at the end of the season, Mercedes driver has cleared all the doubts surrounding over his transfer to Italian Formula One team.

The seven-time world champion will be out of the contract at the season end and there were speculations that 38-year-old may join Ferrari.

At the end of closing a contract:

“My team is working closely behind the scenes with Toto Wolff (Mercedes boss), we are almost at the end of having a contact ready,” Briton told reporters ahead of the weekend’s Monaco Grand Prix.

Hamilton also confessed that he feels comfortable in a position where he does not need to make negotiations as it used to be ‘very stressful.’ “I don’t have to do it anymore,” he added.

When asked if Ferrari has approached him, Lewis Hamilton said; “No.”

Mercedes’ form is not a concern:

Hamilton said Mercedes’ recent results had not affected his decision.

“It does not have a bearing because we are still a champion-winning team. Its just we have had the wrong case, there have been some decisions that have been made over the last two years that have been ideal,” he said.
