Killer: Cricket fraternity reacts as Akash Madhwal slayed Lucknow in Eliminator

Chennai: Akash Madhwal-starrer Mumbai Indians outplayed Lucknow Super Giants to set up Qualifier 2 clash with defending champions Gujarat Titans on May 26, Saturday evening at Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.

Cameron Green (41 off 23), Suryakumar Yadav (33 off 20), and Nehal Wadhera (23 off 12) helped Mumbai Indians to post competitive 182 /8 on board in the 1st innings, it was Akash Madhwal’s five-fer that stole the show in 2nd.

Chasing 182, Lucknow Super Giants never looked comfortable and kept loosing wickets at regular intervals, starting with Prerak Mankad in the 2nd over. The onus was on Caribbean beast Kyle Mayers but LSG opener could not unleash his best against Mumbai and left the battle way too early.

However, Marcus Stoinis and skipper Krunal Pandya kept the hopes alive with steady knock but it didn’t last long as the storm name Akash Madhwal had arrived in Chennai.

Right-arm pacer rattled Lucknow’s quality batting line-up to put Mumbai in a commanding position. 30-year-old hunted down Nicholas Pooran and Ayush Badoni in two successive deliveries of the 10th over.

While Madhwal was firming it’s grip in the game with regular wickets, LSG batters made their life hell in Chennai with three bizarre run-outs.

Marcus Stoinis, Krishnappa Gowtham and Deepak Hooda were became victim of bad calls in the middle.

As Madhwal ensured easy win for Mumbai Indians, cricket fraternity congratulated that bowler on his incredible evening. Check reactions.
