The Allahabad High Court today strongly reprimanded the markers of Adipurush over the ‘offensive’ portrayal of Lord Hanuman and Sita in the film that has drawn severe criticism from a large section of the audience.

Expressing its strong observation, bench pulled the markers for the ‘objectionable’ scenes and dialogues and directed co-writer Manoj Muntashir Shukla to be a made a party to the case and also asked him to respond within a week.

Ramayana is an example for people:

The kind of dialogues that are there in the film..it’s a big issue. Ramayana is an example for the people. It is venerated. People step out of their homes after reading the Ramacharitmanas,” the Lucknow bench said while hearing a petition against the film.

Is this a test of tolerance?

The court also asked the makers if the film is a test of tolerance for a particular region – said to be more tolerant. “Should we close our eyes just because it is said that people of a particular religion are said to be tolerant? Is this a test of tolerance?” the court observed.

The hearing will continue on Wednesday.
