Inhuman Act: Bruised and soaked in blood, minor recovered from bushes in Kannauj, locals suspect gang-rape

Kannauj: In a shocking turn of events, a 13-year-old girl was found unconscious and bleeding near a government guest house in Uttar Pradesh’s Kannuj hours after she left home on October 23 (Sunday). In a series of shocking videos floating around on social media, the minor, writhing in pain and with blood-soaked arms, pleading for help as a group of men stand around her, filming her on phones.

According to local reports, police have registered an FIR under sections of attempt to rape, attempt to murder and sections of POCSO Act was registered against unnamed accused at Gursahayganj Kotwali in Kannauj. Reportedly, the victim went to exchange a piggy bank on Sunday afternoon and didn’t return for five hours.

Locals informed that a guard in the guest house spotted her in the bushes near the guest house. While police has stated that the victim was unconscious and had multiple injuries, including a severe head wound. In the FIR, the family has suspected sexual assault with the girl.

A source part of an investigating team confirmed that police are looking to identify a man who was seen talking to her and took her to the guest house. The police are looking for the man seen on security footage talking to her. He allegedly took her to the guest house. “The minor girl was found in an injured condition, and the local police rushed her to the hospital for treatment,” said Superintendent of Police Kunwar Anupam Singh.

The victim was reportedly taken to a district hospital by police personnel, where a doctor examined her and referred her to Kanpur due to her acute medical condition. Although locals in the area have claimed the possibility of gang rape, police have denied such claims. Gursahaiganj police station in-charge Manoj Pandey said it was too early to arrive at any conclusion, and the police were waiting for the girl to give a statement.

Several prominent journalists have expressed their outrage over the incident and shared the video on internet urging state government to take significant action in the matter.
