If Not INDIA? Other Names That Popped Up During Opposition Meet In Bengaluru – Check here

Bengaluru: INDIA – the grand alliance of the opposition parties is set to take on Narendra Modi-led NDA (National Democratic Alliance) in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Reportedly, Rahul Gandhi suggested the name INDIA – stands for Indian National Development Inclusive Alliance – and was proposed by the West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee during the meet.
While addressing the media after the opposition meet, Rahul Gandhis said that 2024 Lok Sabha election will be battle between INDIA (grand alliance) and NDA.
However, Rahul Gandhi’s idea to name the alliance faced some dissent as well and some other names were also proposed by senior leaders.
Leaders who questioned INDIA:
As per The Indian Express, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was one of the prominent names who questioned naming the alliance INDIA.
Whereas, experienced Left leader Sitaram Yechury, D Raja and G Devarajan were too not convinced with the name.

What if not INDIA:
The Indian Express report suggested that Yechury named ‘V (victory) for India or We For India’ but dealt with strong dissent from leaders as it sounded like a campaign slogan.
Some other named that were popped up during the meeting were ‘Bharat Jodo Alliance,’ ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra,’ ‘People’s Alliance for India,’ or Progressive People’s Alliance.’
Meanwhile, Uddhav Thackeray pitched the idea of adding ‘Hindi’ tagline with the name as it would attract voters in north India.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi confirmed that the next meeting will take place in Mumbai ‘to take the fight forward.’
