Ind vs WI: Yashasvi Jaiswal And Rohit Sharma To Open; Gill To Bat At No. 3

Yashasvi Jaiswal will have his own litmus Test on the very first Test international game when Team India will lock horns with West Indies.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma confirmed on Tuesday, July 11 that Yashasvi will replace prolific opener Shubman Gill in the first Test and most likely in the second one as well.

Gill likely to succeed Pujara:

While Gill had a terrific stint as a opener and the right-handed batter hit couple of centuries while opening the innings for Team India, reports confirmed that head coach Rahul Dravid and Rohit Sharma wants Gill to be a able successor of Cheteshwar Pujara.

Yashasvi as opener:

Yashasvi is yet to make debut for Team India but when he got the opportunity to show what he got during a practice game, Jaiswal grabbed the opportunity with both hands. In the 2-day practice game, Jaiswal scored 54 off 76 to make a statement.

What about Rahane and Kohli:

Former skipper Virat Kohli and vice-captain Ajinkaya Rahane are sure to bat at number 4 and 5, respectively.

Likely squad:

Rohit Sharma (C), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Ajinkaya Rahane, KS Bharat/Ishan Kishan, Ravindra Jadeja/Axar Patel, R Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Jayadev Unadkat, and Md. Siraj
