Ind vs WI, 1st T20I: West Indies Shocks India To Take 1-0 Lead In 5-Match Series

Trinidad: Brilliant bowling from West Indies has helped the host to stun Team India in the first T20 international at Brian Lara stadium in Trinidad to take 1-0 lead in the five match T20 Internationals. Rovman Powell-led side produced a brilliant performance in the second innings to defend 149.

Obed McCoy, Jason Holder and Romario Shepherd bagged two wickets each in the second innings to restrict India at 144.

While batting first, Brandon King (28 off 19), Nicholas Pooran (41 off 34) and Rovman Powell (48 off 32) helped the host to post 149 Infront of the home crowd. For India, Yuzvendra Chahal, playing his first game in the tour, picked two wickets while Arshdeep Singh too hunted two of the Caribbean batters.

India got a horrific start

In response, Indian had a horrific start to the run chase as both the openers – Ishan Kishan (6 off 9) and Shubman Gill (3 off 9) – got dismissed cheaply. Although, debutant Tilak Varma scored 39 off 22 deliveries with the help of 3 sixes but could not made positive impact in the game.

Needing 10 of the last six deliveries, Romario Shepherd dismissed Kuldeep Yadav and Arshdeep Singh on 1st and 5th deliveries, respectively. Shepherd conceded only four runs in the last over to win the game by six runs.

Jason Holder has been adjudged Player of The Match for his incredible spell of four over, where he picked two wickets and conceded just 19-runs.
