How Delhi Police is using cricket to ace its social media game
There is little doubt that cricket is India’s most adored sporting activity. With cricketing-beats throbbing in the heart of billions, Delhi Police is touching the national pulse with their unique social media skills, effectively combining it with on-field fireworks in the game of cricket. Though Delhi Police has a zero-tolerance policy for Drink-&-Drive, and one can face stringent punishment for their ignorance, their social awareness campaign on Twitter is a unique and delicious mocktail.
Be it highlighting the importance of awareness while driving, citing Indian woman cricketer Deepti Sharma’s Mankad dismissal, or a rib-tickling post on India winning the series against Australia. The team behind Delhi Police’s Twitter handle deserves a brownie point for their right-on-the-money social media skills.
In a candid conversation with The Quotes, Delhi Police spokesperson, DCP Suman Nalwa lauded her team’s creativity and admitted her team has been able to tap the pulse of the nation by mixing social media awareness campaigns with cricket’s incredible moments. “Cricket has an unparalleled admiration in our country. Everyone loves to follow the sport and keeps a close tab on every development related to the game, so we thought ‘Why not wrap the awareness campaign with the passion and craze for cricket,” said Ms Nalwa.
She further said that her social media team is getting plaudits from seniors in the Delhi Police, encouraging them to be more vigilant and dedicated to their work. “We have observed that people understand the logic behind any awareness campaign or message if combined with their area of interest. So, what could have been better than cricket to convey the message,” she added.
Additionaly, she told The Quotes that Delhi Police has always maintained the highest service towards the common public. “Our awareness campaigns were always creative and unique, but as social media has become an integral part of life, we thought of going one step ahead. The Indian cricket team is the dominant force globally, and players are highly adored and respected. We mixed the cricket fever with the message for the public.
In conclusion, the spokesperson of Delhi Police congratulated Rohit Sharma & Co. for their superb performance in the last two T20Is against Australia and for winning the series, 2-1. “What a performance! Indian Team is a force to reckon with, and on behalf of the Delhi Police fraternity, I wish them all the very best for their T20 World Cup campaign in Australia.”
