Government Likely To Table Uniform Civil Code Bill in Monsoon Session: Report

The Government of India is likely to table Uniform Civil Code in the monsoon session of Parliament – starting from next month.

As reported by India Today, the bill may be sent to the parliamentary standing committee which hear views of various stakeholders on the Uniform Civil Code.

The development has come after the Parliamentary Standing Committee on personnel, public grievances, law and justice called representatives of the Law Commission and the Law Ministry on July 3 o a recent notice issue by the law panel.

The Law Commission had earlier issued the notice seeking views of stakeholders on the issue of Uniform Civil Code.

Notably, the monsoon session is likely to commence in the third week of July.
