Experience is lacking: KKR head coach Chandrakant Pandit makes bold claim ahead of KKR vs RCB match in IPL 2023
After surrendering in-front of Punjab Kings’ all-round display in the season’s opener, Kolkata Knight Riders head coach Chandrakant Pandit made shocking admission ahead of high-octane match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at iconic Eden Gardens.
In the absence of marquee players, Nitish Rana-led Kolkata Knight Riders didn’t look formidable enough to post tough challenge to Punjab Kings.
Bowling first, Kolkata franchise conceded 191-runs and could only add 146-runs in the 2nd innings to start their campaign in an unlikely fashion.
Meanwhile, renowned domestic coach Chandrakant Pandit has claimed that his players are goon enough to pose tough competition in the tournament, but his side lacks experience.
Ahead of high-stake game against RCB, KKR coach said, “I would say experience is lacking, but every individual has created impact at the domestic and international level.”
“I believe each and every player is capable of playing well. We are not depending on someone. Whatever squad we have, each player is good enough to make an impact,” Mr. Pandit added.
The coach further revealed that new signee Jason Roy might be used as an impact player. “Roy is a top-order batter and he can be used as an impact player,” he concluded.
Notably, Roy has been signed as a replacement of Shakib-Al-Hasan, and will join the KKR squad for their third match against Gujarat Titans.
Kolkata Knight Riders will host Virat Kohli-powered Royal Challengers Bangalore at iconic Eden Gardens on Thursday.
