Shivani Gupta: Players like Abdul Samad and Umran Malik have brought a lot of attention towards the Jammu and Kashmir region. There is a lot of raw talent in the region, and performance of Samad bhai and Umran bhai has opened doors for players like me, believes Vivrant Sharma, a new signee by the IPL franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The left-arm batter registered himself for the IPL auctions at Rs. 20 Lakh but his price saw massive upsurge as the bidding started. Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad were among the bidders for the J&K all-rounder, but finally Hyderabad secured the bid for a whopping Rs. 2.6 crore.

Will prove my worth

While speaking to The Quotes, Vivrant said that he is delighted to join the Sunrisers Hyderabad camp and will give his best to extract favourable results for the franchise.

I believe in giving my 100 percent. I am going to make sure that my performance speaks volume of my potential,” added the 23-year-old.

Incredible domestic stats:

Vivrant made his List A debut for Jammu and Kashmir in February 2021 and has scored 519 runs with the best score of unbeaten 154 in 14 games, so far. Vivrant is not just a fine middle-order batter, but the ability to spin the bowl provides him an edge over his peers. The all-rounder has also notched up eight wickets in the format.

Since making his debut in Ranji Trophy on December 13, Vivrant played two red-ball games for his stateside. Meanwhile, Sharma scored 128-runs in four innings of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at a strike rate of 145.54, including a 46-ball 63 against Karnataka.

Want to emulate Yuvraj Singh’s performance at international stage:

Inspired by prolific allrounder Yuvraj Singh, Vivrant believes that he has the right ability to trap the best of the batters in the world, and simultaneously play fine innings against the best bowlers.

“Yuvraj sir reached the epitome of the game with his sheer dedication and hard work. I have a desire to contribute to Indian cricket just like Yuvraj sir did,” Vivrant said.

Excited to be part of SRH’s dressing room

Vivrant has been part of the Hyderabad dressing room earlier as he was part of the franchise as net bowler during IPL 2022, but this will be his first time as a player.

Having your own cupboard in the dressing room and jersey is an exceptional feeling. I am so excited to witness that and be part of the group,” adds Vivrant Sharma.

Eyes at the T20 World Cup 2024?

Hyderabad’s new signee believes he would be looking forward to grab most of the opportunity in the IPL.

The tournament is one of the platforms to showcase your talent. I am confident of my abilities, but I don’t want to daydream. Instead, I am only focusing on my preparation, and hoping for things to go in my favour,” added Vivrant Sharma.

Results of my brother’s sacrifice:

As Sunrisers Hyderabad secured my bid, I called my brother and informed him. Everyone at home was emotional. My brother had tears in his eyes. He has sacrificed a lot for me. I believe it’s my time to do good things for them,” Vivrant said.
