Exclusive || India should win Border-Gavaskar Trophy 3-1, R Ashwin likely to be Player of the Series: Venkatesh Iyer

Jagruti Panda: The Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 is all set to produce the most thrilling contest in the world of cricket, as two heavyweights will don white jerseys and roll the red ball, for yet another exciting four-Test matches.
Pat Cummins-led Australia has already arrived in India, while Men in Blue has just wrapped up their contest with New Zealand, and soon full-fledged squad will arrive in Nagpur, where both teams will add yet another glorious chapter in the history of Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Meanwhile, prolific Indian all-rounder Venkatesh Iyer has made an interesting prediction regarding India’s winning margin in the highly-anticipated bilateral contest.
“India’s superiority is unparalleled in-home conditions. We have world-class players across formats. There is no doubt that Rohit Sharma & Co. will retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy for the third time in a row,” Iyer said.
The 6 ft. tall cricketer also claimed that Team India will clinch the series with 3-1 margin.
“India’s dominance in home conditions cannot be questioned but Australia too is a quality squad. And some of the most quality Australian cricketers will feature in this series. I believe Australia might win one game, but not more than. Rest will be only India’s dominance,” Iyer told The Quotes.
Meanwhile, the KKR opener also made the prophecy for who would be adjudged Player-of-the-Series in a four-Test match series.
“I think Indian spinners will dominate the series, but if one name which I feel would stand out, it will be R Ashwin. Ashwin bhai brings a lot of experience to the table, and he has posed tough challenges to Australians even in the past. I am confident that Ashwin bhai will make the ball talk,” Iyer said.
Additionally, he also claimed that veteran off-spinner (R Ashwin) is one of the prolific all-rounders across formats, and one should not ignore his batting skills.
“He is one of the smartest guys in the group. One can never keep him away from the game for too long. He always ensures that his presence is felt in the game. Ashwin bhai uses his wrist really well, does not matter if he is holding the bat or bowl,” Iyer concluded.
