EXCLUSIVE: CSK CEO Kasi Vishwanathan ‘welcomed’ IPL’s return in home & away format

In a significant development, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has confirmed that IPL 2023 will return to its original home-and-away format. Reportedly, the BCCI president has conveyed the same to all the board-affiliated state units. While speaking exclusively to The Quotes, Kasi Viswanathan, CEO of Chennai Super Kings, welcomed the decision and term it ‘great’ for all the IPL fans in the country.

“IPL was always meant to be conducted in home-away-format. Due to the unfortunate pandemic, we saw some changes in the format, but we always knew that as the COVID cases decrease, IPL will be back in its original format,” said CSK CEO.

The IPL 2020 had to move to the United Arab of Emirates due to an increase in COVID cases and was held behind closed doors across three venues in UAE, Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi. IPL 2021 was held across four venues, Delhi, Ahmedabad, Mumbai and Chennai, while a large part of the IPL 2022 took place in Maharashtra, and only the playoff matches took place in Kolkata and Ahmedabad.
