Varanasi | Had I been JNU student, Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi would have visited me: Ex-Congress leader after attacked by BJP workers

In a shocking turn of events, a former Congress spokesperson and social media executive in Uttar Pradesh, has made serious allegations on the group of BJP Leaders in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, for ‘money extortion, physical assault and constant life threats.’

In a telephonic conversation with The Quotes, Shristi Kashyap, Ex-Congress spokesperson informed that the unfortunate incident took place on January 25, at her residence in Satsang Nagar Colony, in Varanasi.

“Close to 100 BJP workers including local leaders flocked to my residence where I run a shelter for dogs. They demanded Rs. 20 Lakh extortion money for letting me reside in the society. I want to know what right do they have to ask money? Or who are they to allow me? When I refused to give the money, they attacked my house, looted my jewellery, pelted stones at my shelter home, physically hurt me and my mother,” Ms. Kashyap said.

With a teary eye, she further stated that her clothes were torn apart infront of scores of men and women. “I had the worst time in my life. What made it even worse is that it all happened in-front of local police, and the latter just spectated the whole incident,” she added.

Ex-Entrepreneur turned congress-leader and now an animal activist told The Quotes that she reached out to several congress leaders in the state and at national level, but no one bothered about her situation.

“I feel ditched and heart broken with the way the party leaders have reacted to my condition. Had I been a JNU student, every congress leader had come to my house. Today, none of the congress leaders are supporting me,” Ms. Kashyap said.

She also informed that FIR was lodged only after an intervention from Ms. Maenka Gandhi (BJP’s MP from Sultanpur). While the police assured speedy investigation in the matter, a counter FIR has been lodged against Ms. Kashyap under section 308 (culpable homicide – non-bailable) of Indian Penal Code.

Sarnath’s Station House Officer (SHO) Dharampal Singh has said that police are investigating the matter and necessary steps are being taken to ascertain the reason behind the dispute. However, Ms. Kashyap claimed that she is living in a constant fear of life as many times she has spotted suspicious men roaming around her house.

“Me and my mom live here on a rented place. We have also rented a shelter for dogs. Our body is full of bruises and mentally, we are in a constant fear of life. My mother has spotted few suspicious men roaming around her house. We demand some sort of security from police and strict action against the accused. I cannot imagine such behavior of BJP workers in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s constituency,” Ms. Kashyap concluded.
