Encounter underway in South Kashmir’s Sophia district: Report

Saleem Qadri: According to fresh reports, an encounter is currently underway between security forces and unidentified militants at Sophian’s Chitragram area in South Kashmir. Reportedly, gunfire has broken out between militants and security forces in the Chitragam area on Friday late evening.

A joint team of Army, CRPF and Police reportedly launched a cordon in the Chitragam area following credible inputs about the presence of some militants in the area. As the joint team of Army, Police and CRPF approached the suspected spot; the hiding militants fired upon forces triggering an encounter.
